Most conference content is super boring. I think many people don’t enjoy the presentations and panels. Yet it gives them a (poorly designed) reason to come together and connect. And funny enough, if you would invite them with an agenda focused only on connecting with people, many wouldn’t come. It wouldn’t be enough of an excuse. It wouldn’t feel psychologically safe. Excuses make connecting with others safer for people like myself.
