I did this. 1) The application specifically asked how many years is PM experience I had and I chose the option that matched the job posting requirements so I didn’t automatically get filtered out. I think I did that for all the questions except the blatant lies like not having PMP and other certifications. 2) Somehow, I got an interview out of many candidates and I really prepared and practiced my answers. When asked about a time I managed a project start to finish, I pulled on experience I had managing large accounts for an entire year which would involve lots of small projects/changes and planning, real-time problem solving, etc. Do this for as many questions as possible, you’d be surprised how much relevant experience you may have. You really don’t need to be a PM, just know how to manage and implement initiatives, different personalities, handle ambiguous situations.
